Stephen Abram, MLS, is President 2004-2005 of the Canadian Library Association and Vice President Innovation of Sirsi Corporation. He has been VP of Corporate Development for Micromedia ProQuest and Publisher Electronic Information for Thomson. He ran libraries for Coopers & Lybrand and Hay Group. Stephen has been listed by Library Journal as one of the top 50 people influencing the future of libraries and librarianship. He has been awarded SLA's John Cotton Dana Award as well as being a Fellow of the SLA. He was Canadian Special Librarian of the Year and Alumni of the Year for the Faculty of Information Studies at the University of Toronto. He gives over 45 international keynote talks annually to library and information industry conferences.

Bruce Balcom is a Tier One Canada Research Chair in Materials Magnetic Resonance Imaging at the University of New Brunswick. He holds a BSc from Mount Allison University (1985) and a Ph.D. in Biophysical Chemistry from the University of Western Ontario (1990).
He held an NSERC graduate fellowship from 1985-1989, and undertook Post Doctoral studies from 1990-1992 at Cambridge University supported by an NSERC post doctoral fellowship. Dr. Balcom was a winner of an NSERC Steacie Fellowship 2000-2002, one of Canada's most prestigious research awards.
He joined UNB's Department of Physics in 1993 as an Assistant Professor and co-founder of the UNB Magnetic Resonance Imaging Research Centre. Now a full professor of Physics with a cross appointment in Chemistry; Dr. Balcom has been a member of the CISTI Advisory Board since 2001.

Guylaine Beaudry is director of the Information Processing Division of the IT services of the Université de Montréal. She is General Director of Érudit, a publishing and dissemination platform for journals, theses, preprints and books, granted by the Québec government. She is also coordinator of Synergies, a project involving 16 Canadian universities for the creation of a research infrastructure for humanities and social sciences. Specialized in the conception and management of digital publishing projects of scholarly literature, Guylaine Beaudry participates in many national and international forums on this subject (member of the Advisory committee for the electronic legal deposit of the NLC; co-chair of the editorial committee of the colloquium Numérisation et histoire du livre, Lyon 1999 ; president of the ASTED 2000 Congress, member of the pilot committee for the French portal of SHS journals; co-editor of the UNESCO International ETD Guide, etc.). She is author of many publications, in particular, co-author of the book Scholarly Journals in the New Digital World, published by University of Calgary Press.

Daniel Boivin is Director of OCLC Canada. In his present role, he oversees the management of OCLC Canada as well as sales and marketing of all OCLC products and services in Canada. Before joining OCLC, he was, through his company, Textel db, the official distributor for Chadwyck-Healey products in Canada. He started his company in 1995 after being an Account Manager for DRA/MultiLIS for 5 years. Before joining DRA/MultiLIS, he spent three years as a librarian with the Canadian Institute of Scientific and Technological Information (CISTI): first as Cataloguer and then as part of the Customer Service division of CAN/OLE CAN/SDI. Daniel has now over 17 years of experience with automation and electronic information since he got his M.L.I.S. degree from the University of Montreal in 1987. He also holds an MBA from the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University.

Claude Bonnelly is director of Université Laval Library in Quebec City. He has been the chair of the CREPUQ Library Sub-committee, president of Asted and chair of the Canadian Institute for Historical Microreproductions. He is the former chair of the Canadian Initiative on Digital Libraries and is currently board member of the IFLA Section on Information Technology. He has been a member of the AUCC/CARL task force on university libraries and scholarly communication. He is interested in all aspects of digital libraries and scholarly communication issues. He is closely involved with Université de Montréal and UQAM in the interinstitutional Erudit initiative, the Université Laval Library being one of the two production and development centers for Erudit. He has published many articles in books and journals; he is the co-author of a book published in France by the Cercle de la Librairie on "Les nouvelles technologies dans les bibliothèques".

Mary M. Case is University Librarian at the University of Illinois at Chicago, an urban public institution serving 25,000 students and over 5,000 faculty and staff. Prior to joining UIC on July 1, 2004, Ms. Case was Director of the Office of Scholarly Communication of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL). At ARL, Ms. Case was responsible for guiding the activities of the association related to the production, dissemination, use, and preservation of scholarly information. Ms. Case coordinated programs and workshops on the licensing of electronic resources, helped in the development of SPARC (the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition), coordinated national conferences and roundtables on issues in scholarly communication, and helped plan a national conference on preservation with the University of Michigan. Before ARL, Ms. Case was Director of Program Review in the Office of the Vice President for Administration and Planning at Northwestern University. Prior to that, she spent 10 years at Northwestern University Library, where she worked in serials and acquisitions.

Deb deBruijn is Executive Director of the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN), a program of Canadian universities to license electronic versions of scholarly publications for academic researchers, in order to bolster Canada's capacity for research and innovation. CRKN recently incorporated as a non-profit organization, in order to continue the work of the pilot Canadian National Site Licensing Project (CNSLP). Previously, Deb served as Manager of the British Columbia Electronic Library Network and also held several positions within the University of Calgary Library system.
Deb has held executive and committee positions with national and provincial library associations in Canada, and was also honoured by the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) in 2001 as the first recipient of the CARL Award of Merit, in recognition of her leadership of the CNSLP initiative.
Deb is active in the work of the International Coalition of Library Consortia, and has also undertaken consulting work with library development projects in Indonesia and Ghana.

Roland Dietz, President and CEO, infuses Endeavor with a combination of library and technology experience. Previously with Elsevier for over 10 years prior to leading Endeavor, he brings experience in working strategically with libraries to deliver a focus to current and developing library needs. Roland was instrumental in Elsevier's launch of several broadly-defined commercial electronic products that have changed the ways libraries search electronic content, including well-known brands as ScienceDirect Onsite, ScienceServer and ScienceDirect Online. At Elsevier he worked closely with diverse libraries around the world to develop initiatives that concentrated on enabling access to information now and in the future.
In addition to his work with libraries of all sizes, Roland also brings to Endeavor years of technical and software experience. With previous strategic roles at Tulip Computers International and Philips Electronic Industries, he was responsible for the successful launch of various new hardware, software and networking / data-integration product lines that provided solutions for organizations of various sizes.
A founding member and Chairman of the European Computer Manufacturers Association's Market Research program, he is a member of the board of directors of TICER (a librarian education and consultancy program founded by Tilburg University). He is also a member of the New York New Media Association and an honorary member of the board of Electrotechnical / Software Engineering association of Delft University of Technology. Bernard Dumouchel is a career librarian and information specialist, with Bachelor's degrees in history and library science, and an M.L.S. from the University of Western Ontario's School of Library and Information Science (now the Faculty of Information and Media Studies). He began his career as a community college librarian. In 1982, he joined the Library of Parliament as Director, Technical Services Branch. In 1987, he came to the National Research Council's Canada Institute for Scientific and Technical Information (CISTI) as Director, Resource Development. He became Director General of CISTI in 1998.
CISTI is the largest scientific, technical and medical (STM) library in North America, and the most important sci/tech publisher in Canada. As Director General, Mr. Dumouchel envisions CISTI as a world-class information powerhouse, providing information products and services for researchers and innovators in the academic, private and public sectors in Canada and elsewhere. He aims to consolidate and extend CISTI's position as a role model and world leader in STM information management by being the supplier, publisher, and service provider of choice for national and international stakeholders.

Ms. Ebbett is University Librarian at the University of Windsor. Prior to coming to Windsor in 1994, Ms. Ebbett was Head of Cataloguing at Mount Allison University, where she had been working as a librarian since 1974. She holds a Master's degree in Library Science from Dalhousie University, a Bachelor of Library Science degree from University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Honours English from Mount Allison University.
Gwendolyn Ebbett is currently Past Chair of the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL), and has served as Treasurer for the Canadian Association of Research Libraries' (CARL) 2002-2004. Ms. Ebbett is Chair of CARL's Information Literacy Task Force, and a member of the Synergies working group. She has been active in the advancement of new initiatives in Scholarly Publishing provincially, nationally and especially at the University of Windsor, involving the Library in pilot projects in E-Reserves,the creation of a Data Centre Service and an Institutional Repository. Ms. Ebbett has been heavily involved in the Ontario Digital Libraries initiative and in Scholar's Portal since its beginning.
Ms. Ebbett was honoured by the Federation of New Brunswick Faculty Associations with the Prix Nicole Raymond Award (FNBFA) and the Canadian Association of University Teachers Academic Librarians' Distinguished Service Award in 2001.

Greg has over 20 years experience in the library and information management industry. He began his Sirsi career in 1988 as the founding member of the Sales and Marketing departments, moving to Vice President Product Management in 1995, and launched innovative and industry-first products such as Workflows, SmartPort, WebCat and iBistro. As a library technology and Sirsi veteran, Greg continues his work with libraries, partnering technology firms, and his Sirsi colleagues to stretch the boundaries and definition of the traditional ILS Company. Before joining Sirsi, Greg served as senior account manager for Unisys Corporation, responsible for higher education and state government. Warren Holder has been a librarian at the University of Toronto since 1978. As Electronic Information Resources Co-ordinator, he is responsible for identifying content, negotiating site licenses and vetting legal agreements that will allow access to electronic resources for the faculty, staff and students at the University of Toronto.
Warren is a member of the Ontario Council Of University Libraries Information Resources Committee and is on the steering committee of COOL (Consortium Of Ontario Libraries). He has been active in the formation and ongoing activities of Consortia Canada and ICOLC (International Consortium of Library Consortia). Recently Warren has been negotiating electronic access to resources on behalf of COAHL (Consortium of Ontario Academic Health Libraries) and ACMC (Association of Canadian Medical Colleges).

Ernie is currently Associate Vice-President (Learning Systems) and Chief Librarian at the University of Alberta. He holds a B.A. and M.A. in history, and a M.L.S. from the University of British Columbia. He was the founding Executive Director of the Canadian Institute for Historical Microreproductions, and he has held library positions at the University of British Columbia, the University of Calgary, the University of Regina and the University of Alberta.
He has been an active player within the Canadian library community, having served on over 120 professional associations and related committees. He has held numerous executive positions on public and private sector Boards, including the presidencies of the Canadian Library Association, the Bibliographic Society of Canada, the Council of Prairie and Pacific University Libraries, and the Saskatchewan Library Association. He is past Chair of the Canadian Initiative on Digital Libraries, and presently he serves also on the boards of CARL, NETERA Alliance, Virtual Museum of Canada, and Online Computer Library Centre (OCLC). A key contribution to the Canadian library community was his founding of the Northern Exposure to Leadership Institute.
Ernie has received many scholarly and professional awards and honors. Most recently he was acknowledged by the Canadian Library Association for outstanding service to librarianship, and he has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.

Dr. Gregory Kealey has been Vice-President (Research) of UNB since December 1, 2001. Dr. Kealey holds a BA in modern history from the University of Toronto (1970) and master’s (1971) and doctoral (1977) degrees from the University of Rochester. He joined MemorialUniversity of Newfoundland’s History department in 1981, became a University Research Professor in 1992, and was appointed Dean of the School of Graduate Studies in 1997. The vice-president’s areas of specialization are social and labour history. He served as founding editor of Labour/Le Travail for 21 years and also as general editor of the Canadian Social History Series. He has published four books, edited 25 others, written 19 chapters for books, published 30 articles in refereed journals with 20 articles reprinted, and delivered 175 papers and commentaries. Among the board positions he has held are President of the Canadian Historical Association and of the Social Science Federation of Canada and acting co-president of the Humanities and Social Science Federation of Canada. His research in progress includes two books, The History of the Canadian Secret Service and State Repression of Labour and the Left in Canada, 1914-1922. Dr. Kealey is a fellow of the Royal Historical Society and the Royal Society of Canada.

Cameron has spent more than 25 years in the scientific and technical information industry. He brings expertise and skills in business management, product development in the field of electronic S&T information services, and marketing. As Director, Publisher Relations, from 2002-4, he has developed and managed new and important relationships with the publishing community.
Appointed Director, Publishing, in March 2004, Cameron intends to focus on ensuring that the CISTI Publishing Directorate continues to meet the needs of researchers in Canada and worldwide, and to be recognized for its leading edge publishing processes and services.

Bill Maes is the University Librarian at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia and served as President of the Canadian Association of Research Libraries from 2001 - 2003. He is the current Chair of Novanet, a member of the Theses Canada Steering Committee and the Canadian Initiative on Digital Libraries, CIDL.
From 1993 to 1998 he was the Director of Library and Information Services at the University of Regina. There, he had overall responsibility for the libraries, computing and network services, audio-visual services and RegLIN, the Regina Library Information Network. As Chair of the Council of Prairie and Pacific University Libraries from 1994 to 1997 he was a strong proponent for creating the virtual Western Canadian scholarly information resource.
While at Regina, he was appointed the University's representative on the Board of SR*Net, Saskatchewan's regional high-speed test network and was Chair of Sask*Net from 1993 to 1994, Saskatchewan's regional Internet provider. He also served on the Boards of CA*Net and C.A.N.A.R.I.E, the latter as the representative for CARL.
Prior to his arrival in Regina in 1990 as University Librarian, Mr. Maes was Associate Librarian in the Medical Library and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Continuing Medical Education at the University of Calgary. In this position he worked closely with members of the department to introduce information technology and medical information services to rural practices. He was a contributing author on a number of papers describing this initiative. During his time at the Medical Library, he served terms as President and Treasurer of the Canadian Health Libraries Association and was a founding member and President of the Southern Alberta Health Libraries Association.
Mr. Maes holds a B.A. degree in philosophy from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, an M.A. degree in philosophy from the University of Calgary, and an M.L.S. degree from the University of British Columbia.

Aileen McHugh is the Director of Electronic Publishing for Johns Hopkins University Press. Aileen directs Project MUSE®, an online collection of 257 peer-reviewed scholarly journals, in the arts, humanities, and social sciences, from 40 nonprofit publishers. Muse is managed by the Press in cooperation with the Milton S. Eisenhower Library of Johns Hopkins University.
Before joining the Press in 2002, Aileen was Executive VP/Editorial Director of Scientific American® Medicine, where she oversaw continually updated print and electronic reference products. She was also Publisher of the Current Opinion® journals in medicine, and she held editorial positions at the American College of Physicians and the American Association of Cancer Research.

Dr. Carol Hansen Montgomery has been active in the information field for over 30 years as an administrator, teacher, researcher and author. She holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Bryn Mawr College and a doctorate in information systems from the College of Information Science and Technology, Drexel University. A frequent speaker and contributor to the professional literature she is the author or co-author of several books.
Dr. Montgomery is currently Dean of Libraries at Drexel University where she is leading the change from print collections to an electronic access model. She has held local and national positions in numerous professional organizations and has received extramural funding for many projects. Most recently, she received grants from the Institute for Museum and Library Services to analyze the economic and organizational impact of the transition to an electronic journal collection and to digitize the Drexel College of Medicine's archives of materials about women physicians.

Brian has recently moved East with his appointment as Associate University Librarian for Processing and Systems at Simon Fraser University. Before that he'd spent many years as Systems Manager at the University of British Columbia. Brian has been an active participant in numerous library consortial projects at the provincial, regional and national level. He is currently a member of the Negotiations Resource Team for the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN).
Brian has also been involved in digital library research initiatives on the West Coast. Earlier this year he was the co-convenor of an Exploratory Workshop on the Future of Digital Libraries in Canada that was sponsored by the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies at UBC.

Before joining Swets, Zsolt was actively involved in management consulting in the UK and Europe for the Media industry. Prior to his move to the UK, Zsolt worked for 8 years in the Thomson Corporation. During his tenure in Thomson Learning he lead the transition from print to online/interactive learning. Zsolt also directed business developments for ISI's current awareness products, Web classifications and pay-per-view initiatives. Zsolt has now over 15 years of experience within electronic publishing since he obtained his B.Sc. from the University of Western Ontario. He also holds an eMBA(ITM) from Athabasca University Centre for Innovative Management.

John Teskey is the Director of Libraries at the University of New Brunswick (Fredericton). Mr. Teskey is a graduate of the University of Guelph (BA) and the University of Western Ontario (MLS). He began his library career at the University of Saskatchewan (1974-80) moving to the University of Alberta (1980-1991) and finally arriving in Fredericton in the summer of 1991.
John is a member of various library associations including ALA, CLA and APLA and has served as President of the Atlantic Provinces Library Association 1997-98. In addition he has also served on the following boards/associations: Canadian Association of Research Libraries, Council of Atlantic University Libraries, Canadian National Site Licensing Project--Negotiation Resource Team, Elsevier's North American Library Advisory Board, the New Brunswick Provincial Library Board, OCLC's Canadian Advisory Council and the CIHM Board of Directors.

Dan Tonkery has been in the library industry for over thirty years having worked as a professional librarian in various positions at the National Library of Medicine and at UCLA where he was the Associate University Librarian for Technical Services. He was responsible for the development of UCLA’s original ORION ILS system and a number of automated technical services systems in the area of acquisitions and serials control.
After serving 15 years as a librarian, he moved to the corporate world and has served as President and CEO of two library subscription agents including Readmore and Faxon. He was the Founder of Horizon Information Services a CD-ROM publishing company that was sold to EBSCO.
His current role as VP and Director of Business Development at EBSCO provides an opportunity to work on developing new library services for libraries as they make the transition from print collections to e-formats. In addition he is now working with the larger publishers to streamline the e-journal workflow between the subscription agent, the library and the publisher. The amount of additional work that comes from managing e-resources in the library has created a new demand for agent services that must be supported.
He is active in NASIG having served as President and Treasurer, ALA, and SSP. He is on the Board of the Friends of the National Library of Medicine and has served for over eight years on the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR)
