Abstract Expressionist Treatise on Love
(Inspired by Adolph Gottleib's "Blast l ")

1.

Imagine an apple
floating
It covers all you can see
Behind it there is someone
you want to get to
You begin to eat
tunnelling
The soft white walls
are too narrow
you hit your head
The apple heals over behind you
leaves no hole, no sign
you wereeverthere

2.

Imagine a jagged piece
of night
crouched in front of you

You put it there to keep someone
away
It is hot and tight
smells vaguely of vinegar,
feels like itchy wool
Inside it
someone is lost
someone you will notcall out to
