Hello, this is Paul Dechene, QWERTY's production manager (a virtually meaningless appellation in the Q hierarchy) and webpage-designer for its first four issues (which means only that I'm the one who knew something of computers during those first meetings and was thus volunteered to handle providing QWERTY with a net-incarnation). Just a little note of clarification: These web pages contain the entire text of the print version. (This is unlike our other web issues which contain only 30ish% of the text issue.) This was done for a variety of reasons: First, the print version was limited to a 100 issue print run which was close to sold out the instant it came off the press. Second, as this was an ego issue, I personally wanted to play around with a more extensive and organic web interface---one that was graphic-centered and highly interconnected, so that the experience of reading resembled an exploration of paths as opposed to a front-to-back herding of the reader's attention. For those of you who bought the ego-issue in print, please do not feel that it was a rip-off. The print version is radically different in terms of graphics and layout, and a very different reading experience--one well worth the $5 pittance we're charging for it. There are only 100 in print (and that is all there ever will be) so it is a sort of collector's item if such things exist in the world of small journals. Also, without the sales of print copies this magazine cannot exist. So, for those of you who purchased the ego-issue (and to those who are considering buying it), if nothing else will convince you that it is a solid investment, then consider it an act of charity and accept our undying gratitude in exchange. Finally, I hope you will enjoy these web-pages, and I beg you to email me with comments once you have perused them (criticism is encouraged, flattery is adored).
