While 19th century theatre in the maritimes was largely the domain of travelling or seasonal companies, the most significant contribution to maritime theatre in the past fifty years has been that of three professional resident companies: Neptune Theatre in Halifax, the Confederation Centre in Charlottetown, and Theatre New Brunswick in Fredericton. All three have occasionally toured beyond their provincial borders. The mandate of Theatre New Brunswick has been to tour every production throughout its home province.

Though all three of these companies continue to operate today, it has been surprising to me to discover how much of their early histories has already been lost. Because of this, I have thought to include performance calendars for these three companies while much data remains available.

Using the buttons below, you are free to explore the production history of any of these companies. Should you wish to make a more comprehensive search, you may search the data base of all three at once.
