Ward Chipman Library

The Ward Chipman Library proudly serves the UNB community in Saint John, including all students, staff, and faculty of all departments and programs from the Faculties of Arts, Business, and Science, Applied Science and Engineering, as well as Saint John College and the Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick.

The library is home to the Learning Commons, which has everything you need to conduct your research—scholarly information sources, computer technology, and expert research, writing, and computer help—in one convenient location.

In addition to the thousands of electronic, scholarly-information sources made available by all UNB libraries, the Ward Chipman Library provides access to:

  • more than 200,000 print books, journals, and theses
  • special collections, such as the Science Fiction and Fantasy Collection, the Beat Collection, the Popular Reading Collection, and the 501 Must-Reads Collection
  • document delivery services, which bring books and articles from other libraries to UNBSJ for students and faculty, by request and free of charge
  • audiovisual equipment, including DVD players and an HD video camera
  • and meeting rooms for students and faculty/staff, including the Presentation Suite, which features a Smartboard, data projector, and video-conference technology.

The librarians and staff of the Ward Chipman Library are part of a diverse and talented team that makes up the Information Services and Systems Department at UNBSJ. Their mission is to advance learning and scholarship by providing effective, efficient, and well-managed technology and information services to all of their users, whenever and wherever needed.
