Administrative history: The Muriel McQueen Fergusson Centre for Family Violence Research was established in 1992, in cooperation with the Faculty of Arts of the University of New Brunswick. In collaboration with community and academic researchers, the Centre supports action-oriented, multi-disciplinary research with the hope of reducing and ultimately eliminating family violence. Other initiatives include a multi-disciplinary graduate course on family violence issues, public lectures, workshops, talks to professional groups, conference displays, media interviews, and information sessions. The Centre's director and board of directors are responsible for day-to-day operations, while the Foundation's volunteer board of directors and executive director oversee the work of both the Foundation and the Centre.

Scope and content: This series contains records relating to the Centre's founding, including correspondence and minutes of meeting, as well as copies of press and information kits and newspaper clippings of Centre activities. It also includes proposals and case statements, a report on the 1993 fund-raising campaign, and a few miscellaneous documents. The materials located in sub-series 2 were prepared by the Fergusson Foundation or by other groups or organizations.

This series consists of two sub-series:

2. Reports and proposals

Arrangement: File arrangement of sub-series 1 is random and of sub-series 2, chronological.
