Children's Literature Roundtable of Fredericton

The Children's Literature Roundtable consists of people interested in children's books. Parents, grandparents, teachers, librarians, university students and others interested in children's literature are invited to meet to share favourites, discuss issues and trends, and learn from one another.
The Fredericton Roundtable was founded in 1985 and has enjoyed a great deal of success. Throughout the years, many well-known children's authors have visited us, including:
Jan Andrews, Joan Clark, Sheree Fitch, Phoebe Gilman, Jean Little, Robin Muller and Stefan Poulin.

We weet monthly or bi-monthly, from September to May, in the Eileen Wallace Children's Literature Collection, 4th floor, Harriet Irving Library, University of New Brunswick. Our May meeting features a Literary Feast,  where participants prepare a dish based on children's literature. Each Fall, the Children's Literature Roundtable co-sponsors a Children's Literature Institute. This one day event highlights well-known children's authors speaking about and reading from their works. Participants also have the opportunity to have their books signed by these popular children's authors.

Each year the Roundtable is asked to nominate the best Canadian non-fiction children's book and to vote from a short list of books supplied by other Roundtables of Canada for the prestigious Roundtable Award.

Contact the Curator for more information on any of the above, or if you would like to be placed on our mailing list for future meetings and events.
