In an effort to ensure equal access to the information resources available through UNB Libraries, the Harriet Irving Library's Commons Accessibility Centre (CAC) in Room 117 is available and staffed to suit your needs. Additionally, there is another assistive technology lab on the third floor in Room 303.

Assistive Technology:
In the Commons Accessibility Centre, there are 3 workstations with large-screen monitors, scanners, USB headphones, 3 height-adjustable tables, and an electronic video magnifier (CCTV) available for use.

Software in the Commons Accessibility Centre includes:
  • Kurzweil 3000 and 1000 (scanner/readers) PC
  • JAWS (screen reader) PC
  • ZoomText (screen magnifier) PC
  • Dragon NaturallySpeaking (speech recognition) PC
  • Inspiration (mind and concept mapping) PC

In the Third Floor Accessibility Centre, there are 4 workstations with large-screen monitors (one workstation offers a Macintosh computer), scanners, USB headphones, 2 height adjustable tables, and an electronic video magnifier (CCTV) available for use.

Software in the Third Floor Accessibility Centre includes:

Services:
An Assistive Technologist, Andrew Daley, is available to answer any questions you may have. You can send questions or make appointments for individual training sessions with the Assistive Technologist by sending an e-mail to cac@unb.ca.

Research help is available for students, faculty, and staff who have disabilities. For help with finding resources or using UNB Libraries' article and research databases, drop by the Research Help Desk in the HIL Learning Commons For more in-depth, subject-specific research support, book an appointment to meet with a Liaison Librarian in one of the Accessibility Centres.
