UNB Libraries Households and the Environment Survey (HES)The following files are available for use within the constraints of the DLI license to UNB Libraries authorized users. BACKGROUND The objective of the survey is to provide context to the science (i.e. the actual measures of air & water quality and greenhouse gas emissions) by gaining a better understanding of household behaviour and practices with respect to the environment. This public use microdata file contains information on a wide range of topics, including water quality concerns; consumption and conservation of water; energy use and home heating and cooling; pesticide and fertilizer use on lawns and gardens; recycling, composting and waste disposal practices; motor vehicle use. It also provides information on the socio-demographic, income and labour force characteristics of the population. HES was last carried out in 1994. For this iteration, the survey was put in the field in February 2006, for the 2005 year. There are 28,334 records in the file. /p> Note that there is only a public use microdata file for the Household file. Any references to the Person file in the User Guide refers to the master file.
