Financial Performance Indicators for Canadian Business (FPICB)
Financial Performance Indicators for Canadian Business is an authoritative reference source of key financial ratios by industry. It is based on up-to-date, reliable and comprehensive data on Canadian businesses, derived from Statistics Canada databases of financial statements.
The indicators are designed to serve as financial performance benchmarks against which individual firms and industries can be compared. It allows firms to position themselves within their peer group.
The publication is split into three volumes. Volume 1 covers large incorporated enterprises in both the financial and non-financial sectors with annual operating revenue of $25 million or more, excluding enterprises classified to Funds and Other Financial Vehicles and Public Administration.
Volume 2 covers medium-sized incorporated enterprises in the non-financial sector, excluding Public Administration, with annual operating revenue of $5 million to less than $25 million.
Volume 3 covers small-sized incorporated enterprises in the non-financial sector, excluding Public Administration, at both the national and the provincial and territorial levels, with annual operating revenue of $30,000 to less than $5 million.
Two tables are included in each of the volumes. The first table contains 15 financial ratios. The financial ratios are categorized into three groups: profitability, solvency and efficiency. The second table contains a "common-sized" balance sheet structure of a typical enterprise in the industry.
