Explanation of SODB File Names

SODB at 1:10 000

The naming for SODB files as for all SNB 1:10 000 windows is based upon the latitude and longitude (expressed in decimal degrees) of the South East corner of the window. The first four digits are the North latitude of the SE corner in decimal degrees and the second four digits are the West longitude of the SE corner in decimal degrees; therefore a map whose southeast corner in decimal degrees is 45.75 Lat and 66.50 Long has the 8-digit name 45756650 with a "zip" extension.
In each .zip file, are the following files:
  • .cor (ASCII text Corner Ccoordinates file), e.g. 45756650.cor
  • .iga (CARIS image parameter file), e.g. 45756650.iga
  • .sid (MrSID compressed image file), e.g. 45756650.sid
  • .sur (ASCII Surround file), e.g. 45756650.sur
  • .tfw (TIFF World File with georeferencing information), e.g. 45756650.tfw
