Softcopy Orthophoto Database (SODB)

The SODB files are image maps. These combine the image characteristics of an aerial photograph with the geometric qualities of a map and can be used in numerous geographic information systems (GIS) applications, either alone or in combination with other digital data.

The softcopy orthophoto Database (SODB) is a colour photomap series. Each zipped file contains an uncompressed version of the file (*.ort), a lossy compressed MrSID version of the file (*.sid), a CARIS corner georeferencing coordinates file (*.iga), an ASCII corner georeferencing coordinates file (*.cor), a TIFF World File georeferencing information file (*.twf), and a Surround Map File Name file (*.sur).

As The Database is accompanied by the following support files:

  1. A User's guide
  2. CARIS support files
  3. A free MrSID viewer which may be downloaded from LizardTech
