The following support files should be used with the DTDB98 (i.e. DTM98 and ETB98) datasets:

CARIS Drawing Support Files

File Name Brief Description
Etb1998a.col Colour table file The colour table file assigns colours (defined in the colour map file) to feature codes, theme numbers, and other feature tags. Thus this file defines the colours that will be used to draw the individual features in your map (i.e. roads will be drawn in red, etc.)
Etb1998b.cma Colour map file The colour map file contains information for defining the colours (in terms of hue, lightness, and saturation) available for use by CARIS.
Etb1998c.bin Symbol file (Binary) The symbol file contains more instructions for drawing symbols and fonts. It is available in both binary and ASCII format. We recommend that you copy the binary file (as opposed to the ASCII file) to your computer.
Etb1998c.dat Symbol file (ASCII) See above ...
Etb1998d.txt Master file
CARIS requires that every feature (e.g. roads, rivers, buildings) in the map is assigned an alphanumberic feature code. For example, the feature code for 2 lane, paved roads may be ROAD2LPAVED. The master file contains a list of the feature codes for the features in the SNB topographic maps. It also contains some plotting instructions for lines, symbols, and fonts that are assigned to each feature.

If you wish to use the DTDB98 files (i.e. digital terrain model and topographic data) with CARIS, we recommend that you download the above support files and reference these files to the appropriate CARIS environmental variables.
