Electronic Maps and Atlases on the Web
New Brunswick
- Geographic Data & Maps
from Service New Brunswick
This site includes a pdf version of the New Brunswick
Atlas, 2nd Edition, as well as a number of freely available spatial data sets
including:
- Provincial Themes (counties, watersheds, crown lands, etc)
- Softcopy Orthophotos (distortion free aerial photos)
- Digital Property Maps
- Electronic Atlas of New
Brunswick, selected thematic maps of New Brunswick based on
the 1996 Census.
Canada
- Maps & Geography from
Statistics Canada (items
marked by a dollar sign may be available to UNB/STU students, faculty, and staff through
the Data Liberation Initiative).
Along with links to reference documents such as their
Illustrated
Glossary and
Geography Catalogue are a number of maps and geographic products:

GeoSearch for general geographic as well as population/dwelling info. Can be searched by
Street, Intersection, Placename, and Postal Code. Particularly useful for identifying
Statistics Canada geographic identifiers; however, depending on the level of geography
selected, thematic maps are also available.
- Thematic Maps,
which include Census (2001 & 2006), Health, Environment, Justice, & Transportation.
Please note: some of the topics listed contain publications in series; therefore, there will
not be maps in each volume.
- Reference Maps
are generally used to identify boundaries and geographic codes. Along with many others
are the following:
- Geographic Products, such as
the following spatial data sets:
- Atlas of Canada
Dating back to 1906, the Atlas of Canada is now produced exclusively online, although
periodically print maps and posters are produced. Along with
learning
resources and links to
free spatial data, this site provides great number of thematic maps as well as
- GeoGratis from
Natural Resources Canada
GeoGratis provides spatial data for free, as well as links to other portals. Among the many
collections they offer, the following are of particular note:

Perry Castaneda Library at the University of Texas
This is a great source for finding world, national, and sub-national maps. In particular,
the collection of CIA maps online is extensive.
