Biographical Sketch: Marion Beatrice Clark was born in 1910 to Alton and Mittie (Jones) Knox of Upper Hainesville, New Brunswick. She married Roscoe K. Clark and spent several years as a farm wife in Millville before moving in 1952 to Fredericton where she was employed as postmistress at UNB.

Marion Clark was committed to both the church and the community. For more than forty years she was actively involved in the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, serving as both local and provincial president for many years, and representing New Brunswick at several national and world conventions. She was also a member of the Grace Memorial United Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, communion assistant for both the church and York Manor and president of the Ella Walker Missionary Society. Mrs. Clark also found time for volunteer work and was highly involved with the Citizenship Board, the Food Bank and Transition House. She conducted church services for more than 20 years at the York County Jail and organized Christmas Concerts at the Kingsclear Youth Correctional Centre.

Marion Clark passed away on June 26, 1996 at the age of 86.

Custodial history: During her extended involvement with the W.C.T.U., Marion Clark acquired records of not only the union to which she belonged but also the Moncton union, as well as fragments from other unions in New Brunswick. Following Mrs. Clark's death, her family gave her collection of W.C.T.U records to Gladys Hemphill, a longtime friend and fellow W.C.T.U. member.

The collection includes minute books, ledgers, legal documents and correspondence for the unions in Fredericton and Moncton, as well as printed annual reports for the New Brunswick, Canadian and World conventions. There is also assorted printed material including campaign literature, copies of "White Ribbon Tidings", and some booklets prepared for the administration of the W.C.T.U., as well as a published history of the Canadian W.C.T.U. from 1874-1974. There are two photographs in the collection.
