Scope and content: This series documents James O. Dineen's roles as a university teacher, a university administrator, an engineer, and a radio instructor in the1940s. It also highlights the high regard in which he was held by his colleagues and peers, as evidenced by the honorary degrees and professional awards he received from them during his lifetime. This series also includes materials sent to Dineen for review in connection with his work as a member of the New Brunswick Higher Education Commission.

This series consists of 6 sub-series:

1. Lecture and course notes
2. Radio instruction notebooks and other records
3. UNB administration records
4. Engineering reports and other records
5. New Brunswick Higher Education Commission records
6. Honorary degrees, awards and certificates

It includes lecture and course notes, notebooks, syllabi, assignment sheets and examination questions. It also includes notes of his travels on behalf of UNB; speech notes; and academic papers, administrative reports, and engineering reports he prepared. Also included are copies of minutes, press releases, newsletters, newspaper clippings, original honorary degrees, original certificates of appreciation or achievement and a few pieces of correspondence.
