Graduate studies and research, UNB [textual record]. -- 1965-1979 . -- 28 cm of textual records

Scope and content: This series documents the growth of UNB's graduate studies programme and the reorganization of the UNB graduate school in the 1960s and early 1970s. As well, it highlights the work of R. J. Kavanagh as associate dean and dean of graduate studies, as well as the work of members of the committee on graduate awards and research in the sciences and applied sciences with respect to the awarding of scholarships and bursaries, administration of grants, formulation of UNB's patent procedure and policy, graduate student support, and other matters.

This series contains incoming and outgoing correspondence, memos, agendas, minutes of committee meetings, briefs, and reports, It also contains budget statements, statistical information on graduate registrations and the allocation of funds, lists of graduate students, drafts of the faculty of graduate studies constitution, and draft proposals concerning its organization.

Of particular interest are several submissions in connection with the 1960s Commission on the Future of UNB (Bailey Commission) and a brief to the New Brunswick Higher Education Commission. Some of the correspondence, reports and other materials contained in this series were prepared by or for Dean Kavanagh's predecessors.
